Performance fabric is the foundation

Activewear starts with the fabric. Polyester-spandex and nylon-spandex blends give the stretch and recovery that cotton cannot, while moisture-wicking finishes move sweat away from the skin.

Ask your manufacturer what base fabrics they run and whether they can source recycled (GRS) performance yarns if sustainability matters to your brand.

Construction that survives real use

Technical construction is what stops activewear chafing, sagging, or falling apart. Flatlock seams lie smooth against the skin; bonded or taped seams reduce bulk; and gussets and reinforced stress points keep leggings and tops in shape.

Sampling activewear is non-negotiable

Because fit and stretch behaviour cannot be judged on paper, activewear must be sampled and worn-tested — moved in, stretched, and washed — before bulk. Budget an extra sampling round versus a simple tee; getting the fit and compression right is worth it.

MOQs and what to expect

Technical fabrics sometimes carry higher minimums than basic knits, but a manufacturer set up for growing brands can still start low — around 50–100 pieces per style. Confirm fabric MOQs up front, since some performance fabrics are ordered in minimum roll quantities.
